Pre Purchase Surveys

Alex Stewart International India provides pre-purchase surveys of all vessels from small private boats to the very largest sea going ships including LPG Carriers, VLCC and Bulk Carriers etc. Pre-purchase surveys performed by Alex Stewart International India Consultants include a full survey of all accessible areas of the subject ship and, very importantly, specific areas of known recurring problems on various ship types and designs and give every advantage in terms of information to allow for the informed decision to be made.

By performing a pre-purchase survey of ships, the buyer can reduce the risks of unexpected additional repair costs, unexpected operational down time and damage to their reputation which can occur when a ship is unexpectedly removed from service – particularity following a high profile or publicised purchase.

Our Marine Surveyors are qualified Master Mariners or Chief Engineers. Survey methodology includes a visual inspection and usually we cover the following:

• Documentation (classification records, PSC records, ISM records, Statutory records etc),
• LFA/LSA equipment,

• Main spare parts on board.

There are very few, if any, ships in operation in the world which are problem or defect free. Alex Stewart International India Consultants can identify such defects prior to the purchase agreement being completed and this information can be used in the purchase decision or price negotiation.
